Question: Why is NFS4 giving me exception caught errors when starting the game?
Answer: Try switching the serial numbers in the cars car.viv file using NFS Wizard.
Question: My Voodoo3/4/5 runs in d3d mode, but I want it in Glide! (common too.. Glide mode runs faster than d3d).
Answer:Open regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed - High Stakes (or whatever it is) and change "thrash driver" to "voodoo2".
Question: How can I get NFS4 to run in Windows 2000?
Answer:We really only know of one way. There is a patch we have on our site that you can find here to download. Read all the instructions very carefully before starting. If this patch doesn't work for you, then you're screwed.
Question: The cops keep getting in my way! How can I get around them?
Answer:Try this in Hot Pursuit mode to avoid the cops, when they try to block your road...
When the cop is driving on the left lane, and is about to block your way, change lanes, like you want to ram his car. The cop acts like he's scared or something, 'cause 8 out of 10 times, he will accelerate, so he's on the other lane, avoiding a crash...
Works perfect So just try to get a frontal-crash with the cop, and he will move aside for you :D

If you are heading towards a cop who is heading the opposite direction, they usually attempt a U-ey but hit the wall so they begin a slow three point turn. When they hit the wall, veer towards them and nick their rear end. The will spin and face the wrong DIRECTION!
